At the beginning of the 21st century, based on extensive research and education exp erience domestically and internationally, China started to explore and execute reform in e lementary and primary education to adapt to the changing modern talent demand in futur e national and social development. Hunan Province started its high school curriculum ref orm in 2007. The new curriculum system is centered on students and designed to shape a nd strength their learning ability, basic logical thinking and independent personality as a qualified future citizen. Along with this province-wide curriculum reform, a variety of res earches focusing on history discipline reform have been emerging constantly, whose resu Its provided new insights in teaching material content, classroom teaching methods, instr uctional design and etc. However, few researches investigated students and their acceptan ce to this new curriculum reform, which left the new curriculum reform ungrounded and might negatively affect its effectiveness.This research selected 2014 senior students of Ningxiang No.4 High School in Chan gsha City, Hunan Province as research subjects and investigated and analyzed their perfor mance in four consecutive unified examinations. Combined with counseling, answering q uestions, interview and other relevant research methods, this study discovered several ma jor issues of students in historical and logical thinking, including inaccuracy in understan ding key historical knowledge, inefficiency in extracting historical information, irrational ity in the use of historical concept, and nihility in historical imagination. This suggested t hat after three years’history study, students were not only unable to meet the basic goal of new curriculum reform, but also incompetent to adapt to the new changes and require ments of college entrance examination in history.Based on forementioned four issues and author’s personal teaching experience, this study proposed several reasonable suggestions with the hope to benefit both teachers and students.
