With the high-speed development of film and television industries, film and television education in universities is booming. But the same training objective, students’ practical application and the dissatisfaction of supply and demand, also exposed many problems. Since 2014, the Ministry of Education has led a group of non-research universities to change into applicational ones. Facing the opportunities and challenges for “developing transformation", the film and television professional education in practical universities should gradually change its teaching concepts and innovation teaching modes. Researchers found that the problems solved by the latest achievements of international engineering education reform CDIO engineering education mode agreeing with cultivation dilemma for film and television talent. The successful experience of applied talents training in CDIO engineering education mode provides references for solving applied talent training problems.In this paper, research ideas are as follows: first of all, the researchers summarized the concept of CDIO theory and practical research findings by applying the documentation method and comparative approach, and further confirms CDIO concept applying to the feasibility of film and television practice courses. Furthermore, at the college where the author works--- Hebei Institute of Communications, as the carrier in the course of《Directing the Documentary》,applying the CDIO engineering education concept in teaching design. Respectively from the teaching organization mode, curriculum content, practical activities and evaluation method, carries out the teaching design. In addition, the researchers choose class 1 grade 3 in Director of professional radio and television as the experimental class. In the processing of research, firstly test the experimental class by using questionnaire investigation, investigate their practical ability and suggestions to the needs of practice teaching. Then under the guidance of teachers, depending on the film and television projects of “Discovery” in CCTV, to apply operation flexible(CDIO) system“conception-design-realization-operation” in teaching process.Finally,based on student performance at ordinary times, student questionnaire, students work and achievement, analyze and test application effect of CDIO concept in teaching.Studies have shown that application of CDIO engineering education concept in practical teaching make for cultivating learners’ professional skills and practical ability, innovation ability, cooperation ability and interpersonal skills and interpersonal skill. And to some extent, it is beneficial to solve the imbalance of film and television teaching theory and practice problem, help to further explore new mode applied film talent training.
