Since Feb, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang proposed at an executive meeting of the State Council that we need to lead a group of regular undergraduate schools change into schools of applied technology, the term “schools of applied technology” has been drawing attentions from the society.Whether seeing it from the demand of industrial structure or the difficult employment situation of graduates, social economy is looking forward to the transformation; to education itself,transformation is good for building a complete educational system, and it is also an effective way for local undergraduate colleges to resolve conflicts.Pushing by the Ministry of Education, the transformation is carrying forward. At the end of 2015, Educational Department of Hunan Province advanced the transformation, and put the transformation work in a very important position in provincial higher education. However, before the overall transformation, some local schools including Changsha college have already taken initiatives and gathered some experiences. While there are successes worth learning, and there are also some problems found in practice. By taking Changsha college as an example, the paper elaborates the school’s orientations, talent training mode, faculty team, and by questionnaires and interviews to the corresponding people,combine qualitative research with quantitative research,trying to understand the attitudes of the educational leaders and teachers towards the transformation. Moreover, the paper explores problems during the transformation regarding curriculum establishment, industry-education cooperation, teaching, and faculty team, and etc. Thus the paper puts forward some transformation suggestions. A school-based education system needs to be established by giving the school enough decision-making power; the government should give more policy support; the enterprises and the school should establish a long-term cooperation system; the transformation of school talent training system should focus on curriculum establishment, forging an all-around teaching system and establishing a double-identity teacher team.
