During the period of the Republic of China in Chinese mainland, the Chinese broadcasting education has experienced three historical stages: the starting, the development, and the prosperity. In addition, the initial period is from 1912 to 1928, and the development period ranges from the early 1930 s to the late 1930 s,and the historical period from the 1940 s to 1949 witnesses its prosperity. This thesis intends to describe the development’s process of broadcasting education in the three historical periods, analyzes the development’s background of each period, and the main forms of organization, as well as features. Finally,it’ll summarize the overall characteristics of broadcasting education and propose the educational inspiration.Chinese broadcasting education derived from Tianjin Radio Training Class established by Yuan Shikai in 1905. With the main purpose to cultivate radio talents, the related courses had already involved the radio principals.After the period of the Republic of China in Chinese mainland was founded in 1912, the two radio educational center, Beijing and Dongbei, gradually came into being. They made significant contribution to Broadcasting in training excellent talents and outstanding teachers as well.In the 1930 s, the ministry of education of the Chinese Nationalist Party launched the radio staff training classes for the sake of training of broadcasting technicians. In line with the trend of audio-visual education, the Nationalist Party also hosted a number of audio-visual educational courses to train the personnel of the audio-visual education by the movie, broadcasting and so on. They were not only supposed to operate and maintain the equipments of radio as a broadcast’s technician, but also master the principles and broadcasting techniques, indirectly cultivated broadcasting technicians, At the same time, the broadcasting education’s components were organized into the Department of Electrical Engineering, Audio-visual Education, and Journalism in the domestic universities.After the anti-Japanese war broke out,the immigration of the National Government and a large number of coastal universities played a pivotal role in stimulating the development of broadcasting education in some provinces of the southwest China, such as Hunan, Chongqing, Guizhou and so on. By the late 1940 s, the broadcasting-related courses had become the required courses of the Department of Journalism in domestic universities.
