In recent years, China is furthering the popularization of 12-year compulsory education and more and more students in rural areas receive senior high school education, which cause the rapid expansion of high schools in these areas and the severe deficiency of teachers. Many new graduates enter into the teaching arena. However, the deficiency of teaching experience, weak professional knowledge and lack of teaching skills hampered the improvement of teaching quality. The students’ parents, the society and schools pay close attention to the professional development of the young teachers. The focus of this study is how to promote the professional development of the young teachers in an efficient and quick way.Based on the case study of the professional growth of the two young math teachers in a rural senior high school,literature research,questionnaire survey and interviews are conducted to refine the widely applicable and effective strategy with the hope to provide help to the young teachers and reference to making the training plan of teachers.Firstly, this study analyzes the understanding and knowledge of teachers’ professional development and high school math teaching home and abroad through literature research. Some theories concerning enhancing teachers’ professional development are studied.Secondly, based on the observations of two research subjects in daily teaching from the perspective of teaching skills, teaching concepts, working attitude and work performance and combined with the theory analysis, the important factors affecting the professional development are analyzed to explore the strategy of improving and helping their professional growth.Then questionnaire survey is conducted on some backbone teachers to investigate their understanding of the professional growth and their experiences of career success.Next, through the interviews with the two teaching experts, this study shared their teaching practices and understanding of the professional development of young teachers.Finally, targeting at the young teachers in rural senior high schools, the strategy on promoting their professional development is proposed in the following aspects: first, attaching great importance to knowledge and theories, renewing educational concepts and developing professional attainment; second, promoting team cooperation to improve professional level; third, summarizing and performing reflection to achieve self-perfection and enhance professional skills.
