As one of the most important education modes, vocational education has made a great contribution to not only the development of Chinese economy but also improvement of people’s working skills. For the moment, the Australian Technical and Further Education(TAFE) has achieved a huge success and set good examples to countries in several aspects. By contrast, there are some problems in Chinese vocational education, such as the low social acceptability and bad teaching quality. As a result, this paper aims to get conclusion of differences between Chinese and Australian vocational education based on comprehensive analysis and provide references for improvement in areas of educational goals, teaching resources, qualification framework standards and educational fees.The paper is made up with the preface and other four parts.The preface part is a brief introduction about the research purpose, literature review, innovation points, theoretical evidences, core concepts and methodologies of this study.Part one generally reviews the historical background, present situation and challenges about Chinese vocational education. Besides, it also explains the necessity and importance of paying attention to the Chinese vocational education.Part two analyses features of Australian TAFE from both micro and macro points at first. The next step is specific explanations about training modes, administration styles, curriculum development, etc.Part three looks into a case in which some reasons and experience of one Chinese international student, who is accepting TAFE in Box Hill Institute are displayed.In the last part, by detailed comparison between Chinese and Australian vocational education, both retrospective and prospective conclusions and suggestions are put forward to improve our own.
