With the communication between China and other countries growing, learning English is becoming increasingly urgent. However, from the current situation of English teaching, teaching resources are limited, lack of good English language learning environment, so the quality of English teaching is far to the claim that the "new curriculum standards" proposed, especially the students’ oral English ability can not get effective exercise and ascend. Many English teachers in primary school follow the traditional mechanical word recitation and dictation mechanical patterns of teaching, and do not match students’ age characteristics. Besides, holding large and small theatrical performances costs a lot of time and effort, and reduces the time that the students focus on textbook.With the help of "drama" and "play", this paper makes a research on English of primary school. It integrates drama and education into primary English teaching and explores a workable apply mode of primary English textbook drama. By observation, interview and investigation in the elementary school, on the basis of textbook drama development, this paper tries to apply the classroom textbook drama teaching to the N elementary school, mainly through the empirical analysis of relevant teaching cases. It also explores method and experience of textbook drama teaching practice, sums up its application value in the primary school English classroom teaching and gives full play to textbook drama as an effective auxiliary teaching mode.The paper mainly focuses on discussing how teachers should apply the teaching mode and teaching activities of textbook drama to the class, in order to cultivate students’ ability of using English in elementary school, change their concepts of learning English, improve the interest of learning English, perfect the teaching efficiency, and make students have a new experience of learning English. The textbook drama helps students and teachers to realize that English can be learned by performance instead of boring reciting. It means textbook drama is a teaching mode that students can learn by self-exploration in performance. Just as the saying: Tell me and I forgot, teach me and I remember; involve me and I learn. Though it has some disadvantages, we can also get better class teaching effects if teachers use it properly. The author gives some relevant suggestions according to the N elementary school’s teaching practice. She hopes that her study can help other primary school English teachers in some degree.
