Case Study On Information Leadership Of Middle School And Primary School Principal

The "Decade of Education Informatization Development Plan (2011-2020)" issued by Ministry of Education and the latest round National Education Technology Plan of the US Department of Education specifically mentioned the importance of educational information leadership. As a hot topic in the field of education, more and more education researchers pay attention to information leadership. For middle and primary schools, the information leaderships of the principals are no doubt play an important influence to the development of the school.At first, this paper summarized the domestic and foreign study status of principals’ information leadership, defined the concept of information leadership and proposed seven evaluation dimensions president of information leadership for the next step. The seven dimensions include information technology knowledge and skills, communication and coordination of information, information evaluation, information planning, information environment, information education reform and information team building.After that, G and J School in Shanghai are choosing as two cases. By applying case study as research method, this study carries out in-depth interviews and questionnaires to the two principals, teachers and students of these two schools. The analyze focuses on how the two principals play the information leadership to promote informational development of school. Based on the interviews and questionnaires results, this study summarized and explained some common problems and confusion of the two schools, the successful experience of the two schools, and put forward three recommendations for school principals to enhance their information leadership. Finally, the author summarizes the conclusions, innovation and limitations of this study, and the future research directions.
