Teaching of Chinese as a foreign language in international schools is facing variety of teaching materials. Schools need to select appropriate teaching materials,teachers need to understand the teaching materials and targeted use of materials. So it’s necessary to evaluate Chinese teaching materials. The results of the textbook evaluation can not only provide reference for school’s text book choice, but also can provide a reference to the textbook compiling mechanism The result of textbook evaluation is good for teachers to use the teaching material better, and is also helpful for students to learn Chinese better.In this paper, according to school’s curriculum, teaching standards, scientific theory, and practical experience, gets the evaluation system for the elementary mandarin materials. And gets the weight of the evaluation index by analytic hierarchy process and paired comparison method. After implementing the evaluation criteria to evaluate the mandarin teaching materials of The “S” Private school“Standard Chinese”(1998 edition) and "Easy Steps to Chinese"(2007 edition), came to the conclusion that “Easy Steps to Chinese” is better than “Standard Chinese”. So the school will base on the evaluation results gradually replace the "Standard Chinese" with the "Easy Steps to Chinese". According to the evaluation results the teachers will add some other materials and adjust teaching method before the replacement. Then carry out the reevaluation. The results show that more than 2/3 of students and teachers satisfied with the evaluation activities and it’s results.
