At present, China’s higher education has been completed by the "elite education" to "mass education" of the transition phase. With the rapid development of society in the era of globalization, ideological and political education, as an important feature and advantage of China’s higher education, is facing new challenges and tasks. General education, as has developed a very mature educational concepts and models in the last century 80’s to carry out quality education in the beginning of the introduction of the opportunity to introduce our country. At present, our country has already formed the research of general education. The practice of general education in Colleges and universities has also begun to take effect. It is under such a background, this paper from the general education and ideological and political education communication feasibility analysis of the deep relationship between the two and tried to put forward the concept of general education under the concept of innovation of the practice of Ideological and political education in Colleges and universities to explore suggestions.This article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which introduces the background and significance of the topic. The present new situation has put forward new demands and challenges to the ideological and political education of colleges and universities, and the practice mode of general education is also effective, so we hope to optimize the ideological and political education of colleges and universities by the aid of general education. Secondly, it summarizes the existing research results of general education, ideological and political education and the relationship between them, and forms a summary of the research. At last, the paper introduces the main research methods used in this paper are literature research, comparative study and questionnaire survey.The second chapter is an overview of general education. This paper discusses the connotation of general education from the perspective of liberal education in general education, and introduces the idea of general education in ancient China. This paper mainly introduces the practice mode of general education in foreign countries, Hongkong SAR and the Taiwan region as well as Mainland Colleges and universities.The third chapter mainly discusses the feasibility of the communication between general education and ideological and political education. Firstly, it is clear that the idea of general education is to turn knowledge into wisdom. Then from the concept of education, training four aspects:objectives, curriculum and teaching methods proceeded to excavate the intrinsic link between the two, demonstrated through general education under the concept of practice and innovation of Ideological and political education theory.The fourth chapter is on general education and ideological and political education present situation investigation, three colleges and universities in Wuhu City selected as representative survey was conducted. Through the data statistics and analysis of the survey results summed up the ideological and political education and general education has gained achievements and existing problems, put forward the practice for a specific recommendations.The fifth chapter is based on the analysis of the previous theory and the current situation, and puts forward the path of Ideological and political education practice under the concept of general education. The article based on the status quo of the previous analysis from the ideological and political education institutions and through general education institutions interoperability, ideological and political education and general education courses multidisciplinary force, ideological and political education absorbed through the teachers’ curriculum consciousness to expand the ranks, the environment of Ideological and political education to general education to rendering human atmosphere four aspects proposed general education under the concept of practice and innovation of Ideological and political education may be a new path is formed.
