An Analysis Of The Development And Present Situation Of HUPU.com

HUPU.com was founded in 2004 as a pure basketball forum, then gradually developed into a vertical sports website, which contains basketball, soccer, racing, tennis and many other sports news. HUPU.com is also one of the most active and influential online sports communities in China, providing a complete, professional platform for the majority of Chinese sports fans to exchange and share thoughts. Therefore, the analysis of the development and present situation of HUPU has a great reference value for the construction of other sports sites.This paper analyzed the development of HUPU by using documents analysis, case analysis, participation analysis and comparative analysis. This paper firstly introduced the history and development of sports news site in China, and then analyzed HUPU.com from section settings to content produces and operation mode. At the third part of the paper, the author pointed out the problems the site is facing, such as the instability of editors, unprofessional journalism, less original content and depth reports, the lack of match broadcasting rights, and unsuccessful APP experiences. Finally, the author put forward suggestions for improvement against problems above, including the formation of a stable and efficient editor team, to produce more depth reports, to compete for broadcasting right and enhance APP experiences.
