Nowadays colleges and universities most attention to the cultivation of students’ professional knowledge, but ignore the cultivation of the students’ physical fitness and lifelong sports consciousness, martial arts in Colleges and universities to carry out just can make up for this deficiency. In this paper, using literature data, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics, logic analysis and other research methods, of Xianyang City, the College Wushu elective course development present situation investigation, found that although spread to many factions of Xianyang City Boxing, rich content, strong mass base, however, these excellent traditional boxing is not in Xianyang City College Wushu elective teaching reflected, rich martial arts and cultural connotation is not in the classroom teaching be taught, through the investigation found in Xianyang City College Wushu elective class widespread problems:1, Xianyang ordinary university martial arts elective course, the students skills required strict, and the degree of attention to martial arts culture is not enough, can not meet the requirements of deep understanding of the profound cultural connotation of martial arts;2, Excellent traditional boxing has not been widely applied to martial arts teaching, teaching methods did not follow the progress of the times to make the necessary adjustments, the performance appraisal mechanism is not perfect, venue, equipment and other hardware facilities is not ideal;3, Xianyang City College Wushu elective course teachers showed younger state, however, part of the teachers for their scientific research ability insufficient attention, no with a positive attitude into pursuit of academic level and teaching level;4, there is no regular for after-school martial arts need to organize specialized practice, school exchange activities less, martial arts learning atmosphere is not strong enough.In view of the above questions, this paper actual situation, puts forward the following countermeasures on the existing problems: first, focus on the level of students’ skills at the same time, an appropriate increase in the theory of class, theory of cultural heritage; second, with regional characteristics of the traditional martial arts into the classroom teaching, new teaching methods, combined with modern teaching methods to carry out the teaching of martial arts, perfect examination system and facilities; third, strengthen the building of the contingent of teachers, improve the professional quality of teachers; four, regularly organize Wushu extracurricular activities to promote the integration of teaching activities.
