With the China occupation basketball league(CBA), Chinese College Basketball League(CUBA) and the basketball tournament in China is booming,and the American occupation basketball league(NBA) influence on the overseas market, basketball has become a university campus youth is one of the most willing to participate in sports. Colleges and universities to participate in basketball activities and watch the basketball game has become an important part of students’ amateur cultural life, while the basketball elective course will become a logical university sports course most college students are welcome.College basketball elective course in the face of the rapid rise of local basketball and basketball culture overseas impact at the same time, will face the original college basketball teaching ideas, teaching objectives, teaching methods and means of learning has been difficult to meet the needs of contemporary college students. Therefore, this requires the public elective course of Basketball Teaching in Colleges and universities to make timely changes and keep pace with the times.Luliang University in Shanxi province is the newly established two colleges and universities, college physical education curriculum in the development is not mature, the development of university sports elective course lagging behind,the college facilities backward, but the curriculum reform in the sports curriculum development requirements, in the second grade sports elective course,the basketball elective course teaching mode is still in the teachers teach,students learn the traditional teaching status, and the status of the students’ interest in learning and classroom organizations have a certain influence, so theLuliang University basketball elective course reform. The leaders and teachers of Physical Education Department of Luliang University in October 2014 after much deliberation began to seek reform and innovation in teaching of basketball elective course, and decided to start full implementation of basketball teaching mode innovation in March 2015.This study through the literature on innovation teaching mode and teaching innovation in the use of university public physical education were consulted and studied, the definition of the innovative teaching mode, using interview method,on-the-spot investigation method, the implementation of the traditional teaching mode and teaching mode innovation of Luliang University public physical education questionnaire after the situation that the following conclusions: public elective courses of Luliang University basketball teaching mode is relatively backward. Mainly in:(1) manual, teaching methods selection methods existing in the traditional teaching mode of public elective courses of Luliang University basketball of the single, facilities, teachers and carry out the project is relatively small, the course examination results and other issues;(2) the innovative teaching mode in Luliang University Basketball Elective Course Application mainly in the curriculum and elective method of the network, the diversification of teaching content, teaching methods of the novel and the initiative of the students, improve the test method of diversification and other aspects;(3) the application of innovative teaching in basketball elective course in Luliang University since the reasons why students chose the basketball project mostly because of personal preferences, for items of interest is half the students think that setting, students hold a positive attitude towards the diversification of assessment.In conclusion, the author put forward the following opinions:(1) the course of further diversification, can make students’ motivation from 100% personalhobbies;(2) to strengthen and perfect the diversified assessment, especially for the interest in the project settings, increase interest in project endurance;(3) to further expand the sports Department of Luliang University teachers, the elective course of college sports project development more diversified, the expansion of the number of teachers to let more love basketball, basketball students to participate in basketball.
