Reading teaching in junior high school can stimulate students’ interest in learning. It can prevent students effectively from mistakes resulting from poor reading comprehension, and improve their ability to analyze and solve problems, and meanwhile develop students’ mathematical thinking. Moreover, it has a significant positive effect on students’ overall learning ability.Based on a large number of literature on the subject and first-hand information from surveys of teachers and students, this research summarized the current mathematics reading condition.On the teachers’ side:the majority of teachers didn’t realize importance of reading teaching for building students’ learning ability, for they are too occupied by teaching routines.On the students’ side:students have little interest in mathematics reading, nor do they have any good reading method. Therefore, it needs our urgent attention to introduce reading teaching on mathematics as an important teaching method.In this research, by studying all kinds of class types, we elaborates reading lesson plans according to the students’practical needs. Through subtly mathematics reading teaching in daily math class and a well designed evaluation system, we develop the students’ reading ability, so as to optimize both teaching and learning methods, and achieve higher teaching efficiency. " number and algebra", "graphics and geometric", "statistics and probability" three knowledge modules are included in our teaching plan. Through practice, we summarized a set of practical teaching strategy, and gradually changed the traditional teaching mode and teaching concepts by introducing reading teaching method, resulting in a atmosphere of students taking the initiative to study mathematics.This research found that mathematics reading comprehension training can build students’cognition of mathematics reading, improve their reading methods and the reflection ability as well as their mathematics reading comprehension ability. After the training, students can better identify the key to solve a mathematical problem, build a mathematical model more quickly, and choose effective mathematical methods to solve the problem.
