To develop high school students’ autonomous learning ability is not only a definite requirement that our education curriculum reform has put forward, but also a basic requirement for students’ sustainable development of lifelong education in the future.In the background of new curriculum reform, as a teacher, aside from beingsupposed to "preach, knowledge and reassure", what is more important for a teacher is to cultivate students’ ability to analyze and solve the problem by thinking, so that’s why the students have to acquire the capability to learn autonomously throughout their life. Therefore, cultivating students’ autonomous learning ability will be of great significance to make efficient learning classes.Nowadays, despite the fact that the curriculum reform has been carried out for years, Secondary teaching in high schoolstill has many widespread problems in many areas, time-consuming but ineffective, which is restricted by many subjective and objective factors and influencesOn the basis of existing research results, by using the methods of questionnaire and interview,the author of this paper chooses High School as the research object to learn aboutitsstudents’Secondary autonomous learning performance and then goes further to dig out the deep causes, and in the end, according to the results of the survey and analysis, somecorresponding countermeasures to improve high school students’ Secondary autonomous learning ability are to be put forward. Main contents are listed as follows:Part Ⅰ. This paper describes the reasons, the purpose and the significance of this study. Then it makes some detailed analysis and reviews based on the existing theories about Secondary autonomous learning at home and abroad including contributing factors and Secondary autonomous learning strategies.Finally, it tentatively defines the concept of autonomous learning.Part Ⅱ. A survey about the present status of high school students’ Secondaryautonomous learning is conducted among students in senior grade two ofHigh School, after which, the result and data of the survey will be analyzed and summarized.Part Ⅲ. The analysis of high school students’ Secondary autonomous learning problems and causes.According to the students questionnaire investigation, the author concludes the problems, features, and reasons including the subjective and objective learning environment, the teachers’ teaching methods, the use of the teaching materials, and the consciousness of cultivating autonomous learning, etc.Part Ⅳ. Somecorresponding countermeasures to improve high school students’ Secondary autonomous learning ability. Efforts and adjustments are supposed to be made in the four aspects:students’ interest in learning Secondary, Secondary teachers’ class design by enhancing their practice and theory level, the training of the students’ study will and attitude and the promotion of the teaching evaluation system reform.
