Currently, a new basic education curriculum reform has been in full swing. Aiming at improvement of national quality, publication and sound development of individuality, it emphasizes life and pactice, advocates independent, inquisitive, and cooperative learning method, and concerns about the moral feeling stimulation, the correct life attitude and values formation of the educated, and about the nurturing and enhancing of students' practical ability and innovative spirit. Under this brand-new teaching idea, exchange, interaction and mutual development between teachers and students should find expression in new curricula teaching process. Since teacher-centered, knowledge imparting-aimed traditional classroom teaching mode is facing severe challenges, the classroom teaching mode construction of ideological and political lessons, which taking new curriculum as soul, and according with requirements of education for all-round development, is imperative.Independent learning is a main subject of contemporary education teaching research. On curriculum theory field, developing independent learning ability is taken as an important curriculum goal; on teaching theory field, independent study an crucial teaching method; on learning theory field, independent study an effective learning method. As a learning ability, independent study helps students not only elevate in school performance, but lay a solid foundation for their lifelong learning and development. The strategy, which seeking cultivation of students' independent learning ability, complies with the objective requirements of quality education and new curriculum reform, reflects contemporary education teaching goals as human orientation and students lifelong development consideration, and therefore has a vital practical and realistic significance on students fully playing the main role, inspiring their active participation, and improving self-education ability.From aspectcs as self-study connotation, theoretical basis, real value, teaching model and evaluation mechanism, this thesis carries out theoretical analysis and practical exploration on cultivation of students self-study ability in middle school political lesson teaching process. By discoursing "self-learning" connotation , its characteristics, formation and development of its ability, the author points out necessity and importance of cultivation of self-learning ability in political lesson teaching process, and analyzes in depth methods of the senior high school cultivation. To cultivate students self-learning sense, to inspire its interest, and to explore its instructive method, from the different levels of political science characteristics and students learning, we may to some degree help change teaching and learning modes, cultivate students self-learning ability, and may even funtion moral education in political lessons, promote students lifelong development.
