On The Application Of Group Work In Self-identity Construction Of The Elderly

With the development of China’s social economy and the deepening of the degree of population aging, the elderly pension problem has become the focus of attention of the whole society. But people pay more attention to the satisfaction of the material needs of the elderly, the elderly spiritual needs of the problem has not attracted enough attention yet. Due to the weakening of the physical function of the elderly, the social role of the marginalized, their self-identity is constantly weakening, the mentality becomes fragile. Only the elderly appreciate themselves from heart can they accomplishment of self-identity and living in happy and fulfilling life. Social work, especially the method of group work playing a positive role in meeting the different kinds needs of the elderly. The existing research on the old people’s group work is largely, but it’s lack of take the self identity construction of the elderly as a theme. This paper take Shenzhen D community elderly people as service object and the object of study, using both of literature research and field research methods,and choosed the elderly people in the D community to cherish the memory of the group as a study case,summarized some gain and lost in this group work.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is an introduction. This part mainly discusses the origin of the study, the purpose of the study, the significance of the study, domestic and international literature review, the definition of related concepts, the theoretical basis and research methods.The second part is the basic background of the research on the case. This part mainly introduces the basic situation and the D community elderly self-identity level and demand analysis of the basic situation, the community elderly spiritual life situation and spiritual needs of community.The third part is the specific application of group work in construct self-identification in the elderly. The establishment,including the target group of professional team members of the team selection, specific plan design; including the team started stage, transition stage and mature stage and the end stage of the process and effect of group specific description; including group service, service and service after evaluation and analysis.The study found that the elderly could obviously enhanced the self-recognition effectively through participant in retrospective group work.The fourth part reflects that the use of construct self-identification in the working group for the elderly. The existing problem and reason analysis this part includes:This part includes analysis of the problems and reasons in the group:group workers lack of professional skills, part of the memory content involves pain was opposed by some members, recruiting members existing difficulties as well as the group size smaller,the group work effects needs to follow record.According to the above analysis, the paper gives some advise:increase the professional level of social workers, group projects involving pain need to be cautious, increase publicity channels of the social work, early establish relationships with residents as soon as possible and do the follow up of the group’s work well.The fifth part is the conclusion of this article made a summary of the full text of the end.
