With the rapid development of post graduate education in China, the academic research of post graduate has been paid wide attention. The management of their academic research is the basic guarantee for their education quality. However, there are many shortcomings in realities, including comprehensive content, weak functions and sole methods, which makes post graduates in the middle of nowhere and hinders the realization of higher education quality. In comparison, the high education level and innovation vigor of post graduate in American is taking the leading edge. Its high education theories which are based on cultural self-consciousness under neoliberalism and the innovation vigor and operation power under decentralized system have kept the leading position. It can be said that success of American style derives from its mature system. Its updated managing theories and advanced practical experience should be an example for post graduated in our country.This paper is based on the practical situation of post graduates’ academic research systematic management. The differences between China and American are compared from the aspects of innovative management idea, complete management system and optimized management process, in order to draw experience for improving our students’research quality, providing systematic suggestions and promoting the scientific development of post graduate education. This study follows modern university management model and divides the academic research activities into personnel management, capital management, project management, infrastructure management and environment management;Part one:analyze the differences between the personnel management in China and American from the angle of post graduate, supervisor, manager and logistical personnel.Part two:analyze the differences between tuition fee, fund and scientific research fee in China and America, in order to explore how capital management guarantees students’academic research level and how to motivate their innovation ability.Part three:present students’research results in the form of project; how can this concrete results assess, transform, protect and back feed students’ academic research activities. Both China and American have advantages. The socialization experience in American can be borrowed.Part four:from the point of library, laboratory and other infrastructures, survey the differences of research infrastructures management in China and American.Part five:compare the academic environment of post graduates in China and American and explore the similarities and differences in institution setting, policies, laws and social environment in both countries.At last, compare and analyze the research results and select cases in colleges and universities in China and American to verify this research conclusion and draw final conclusion; offer policy suggestions for the existing problems in higher education in China and give future research wishes and views according to existing restrictive factors and shortcoming in this study.
