Due to the examination-oriented education system in China whichprioritizes test scores and better graduation rates and results in deviation in cultivating all-rounded talents, therefore most middle schools fallobsessed with exams and quality-oriented education turns a slogan. Though elective course boasts a long history, it still fails to win enough favors. Fortunately, after a century of vicissitudes and changes the 8th basiceducationcurriculumreform started, in April of 2003 Chinese Curriculum Standard for Regular High School (experimental manuscript) followed and it dividesChinese curriculum into two parts compulsory course and selective course, therefore the importance of selective course is highlighted in this reform and the setting of selective course becomes the focus in high school curriculum reform and education circle. Undoubtedly there must be difficulties and problems in the process of implementing high school curriculum. It has been 6 years since 2010 Sichuan initiated the new curriculum for high school though schools didn’t start at the same time. This essay takes Chinese selective course of Dongfeng School in Langzhong City, Sichuan as research object and the methods used are questionnaire survey,interview and literature study to delve into the implantation of the new curriculum, finds out the problems involved and puts forward suggestions for improvement. The author wishes this essay would enlightenimplementation of elective course in peer schools. There are four parts in this essay:the first part is the introduction, which introduces the origin and significances of this research, the definitions of some concepts, theoretical basis and methods etc.; the second part is on the construction of Chinese selective course for high school under the new curriculum from background concepts, theoretical basis, basic framework and requirements for implementation; the third part is the investigation and analysis on the implementation of elective course in Dngfeng School of Langzhong City, Sichuan; the fourth part offers suggestions for Dongfeng School according the investigation from curriculum development, evaluation mechanism, teaching methods, curriculum recourses etc.
