The new curriculum reform emphasizes the transformation from "teaching materials" to "teaching by materials". Nowadays the use of teaching material becomes more and more rich. The reasonable choice of teaching materials and the effective use of the role are particularly important. High school ideological and political class has the characteristics of strong times, contacting with life closely and knowledge relatively boring. Therefore it is necessary for teachers to pay attention to the reasonable selection of teaching material, relying on material, to achieve teaching goals.To provide some feasible strategies of teaching material selection for senior high school political teachers, the author combines with her own practice and experience, analyses the research results of many teachers and experts, use the literature research method, case analysis method, practice method, inductive method and other research methods, put forward the new view and new proposals about the reasonable choice and effective use of high school ideological political lesson teaching material, and prove the rationality and validity in the actual teaching practice.This paper is divided into six parts. The first part mainly introduces the background, overview, methods and ideas of the research. The conclusion and prospect part summarizes the main content and innovation of this topic, and look forward to the development prospects of teaching material in future high school ideological and political teaching. The main body part is divided into four parts. The first part emphasizes the importance of reasonable teaching material selection in high school ideological and political lesson teaching, from the definition and the source of the teaching material. The second part analyzes the problems existing in the current ideological and political course teaching material selection. On the basis of her own practice, the author lists the main problems, such as far away from the students, life, textbooks and reality, free to piece together, many instead of refined, mechanically formed, slighting generating and mining, lack of depth and so on. In view of the existing problems, the third part analyses the reasons, which are old teaching ideas,the lack of awareness of the importance of teaching material selection, inadequate understanding about teaching material and insufficient life material accumulation and mining. Meanwhile, some teachers are relatively weak in reasonable teaching material selection.The fourth part is the most important part. From the teacher’s point of view, it is pointed out that the in high school ideological and political lesson, rational choice of teaching material should be closely linked to materials, adhere to teaching content, respect for students, pay attention to the subject position of students, be close to life, enhance the teaching content of life, connect with the local, emphasize material localization, and pay attention to innovation, enhancing the value of teachers in innovation. So as to improve the effectiveness of Ideological and political teaching, effective use should pay attention to quality, dig deep, achieve the goal, use flexibly and think highly of actual effect instead of seeking the number.
