In recent years, Chinese teaching is in full swing in Thailand. Although many elementary and secondary schools in Thailand have opened Chinese language courses, but there are still quite a number of schools lack of a complete system of Chinese Teaching. In addition, Chinese teachers’ teaching level is uneven, the teaching time and experience are different, which has a great influence on the consistency of the students’ Chinese learning. As a common teaching method in Europe and the United States in the field of second language teaching, theme based instruction pay attention to the study of content relevance and context, not limited to the content of the textbook, in line with the actual situation and needs of the majority of Chinese teaching in Thailand.Based on the four months teaching practice and profound consideration in Suan Taeng Vittaya School of Suphanburi, this paper is going to study the application of theme based teaching mode in elementary Chinese classroom of Thailand secondary school. This paper is contents six parts:chapter one is the introduction part, discusses the reason for choosing the topic, study purpose and meaning, study content and methods, study status and shortage of the review. Chapter two is about theoretical foundation, characteristics and comparison of theme based teaching mode, including the construction of theory, meaningful learning theory, the theory of multiple intelligence and language input and interaction hypothesis, and theme based teaching mode characteristics and comparison. Chapter three is the overall theme based teaching design for elementary Chinese classroom of Suan Taeng Vittaya School, including the teaching preparation, the selection of teaching topics and teaching steps design. The specific teaching design of chapter four, taking "number" as the theme, design the specific teaching content, and show the design of teaching case "quantity" theme. The fifth chapter has a reflection on the design and application of theme based teaching mode in Suan Taeng Vittaya School of Thailand, including the effects and disadvantages of the teaching design, and the teaching inspiration. The last chapter is the conclusion part, which summarizes the full text.
