With the promotion of the new curriculum reform of the compulsory education, the development of local art curriculum resources has become the focus of art teaching research today. The question is how to integrate the local art curriculum resources into the art class? The concept of ‘synthesis and exploration’ provides a way for it. In this thesis, the proper local culture was excavated and tried to be extent to the art curriculum resources, and in the teaching design phase the emphasis was put on the combination of the art and both other subjects as well as the life of the students. These curriculum resources were attempt to be introduced to the ‘synthesis and exploration’ art course teaching to promote the art practice of the new curriculum reform effectively.Huangzhou is rich in local culture resources, and Dongpo culture is famous for its long history. Su Shi in Huangzhou has left many masterpieces, of which the ‘Ode of Chibi’ and ‘Stories at Chibi’ are included in the Chinese textbooks. Many painters had already used these two literary works of Su Shi as the theme creating out a series of Chibi figure painting masterpieces. These Chibi paintings not only reflect the sensation of the Su Shi’s literary works, but also has a high degree of visual aesthetic value. Therefore, they are the most suitable material in the development of Huangzhou local art curriculum resources. Both the students’ aesthetic ability and their cultural accomplishment will be cultivated if the Chibi paintings are introduced into the art class. Moreover, the students’ emotion for local culture will be motivated gradually.The thesis used the introduction of Chibi paintings to ‘synthesis and exploration’ course as an example, demonstrated the development model of integrating the local art curriculum resources into the ‘synthesis and exploration’ course, investigated the development of Huangzhou Dongpo culture art curriculum resources. The main contents are summarized as follows: Second chapter ‘Huangzhou Dongpo culture and art curriculum resources overview’ and chapter three ‘Huangzhou Dongpo culture and art curriculum resources development investigation and analysis ’ were aiming at disscusing Huangzhou cultural resources, development status and teaching situation. The fourth chapter was based on the concept of modern curriculum and the new curriculum reformation, and introduced the development model of integrating the local art curriculum resources into the ‘synthesis and exploration’ course. The fifth chapter ‘the introduction of the synthesis and exploration course’ in Chibi paintings as an example’ from ‘the pursuit of monuments’, ‘feeling the classic’ and ‘repainting the red cliff’ designed the ‘synthesis and exploration’ art class of Chibi paintings. The development mode in the third chapter was exemplified and provides a case for the development of other Huangzhou Dongpo culture and art curriculum resources.
