As middle school students are in a crucial moment for their physical and mental development, participation in social life, and establishment of morality and values, the course of Moral Education is of great importance in shaping their outlooks on world, life and value, which imposes vital influence on life experience. Therefore, improving the teaching quality of course is closely related to their future, and the future of our nation. However, according to the author’s investigation on the preliminary education in recent years, there still exist some teaching problems which run counter to the norms or the reality of their moral cognitive development. Consequently, the teaching quality of the course is seriously damaged or affected.The paper, taking merits of existing achievements of researches on natural origin and evolution of cognition, propose a principle on the discontinuity of students’ moral cognitive development, in an aim to improve teachers’ awareness on the matter so as to promote the efficiency and pertinence of teaching Moral Education. Meanwhile, the paper also conducts a detailed analysis on the inappropriate teaching atmosphere on the matter in Moral Education, and finally provides some suggestions to improve the teaching quality of the course.
