Comprehensive reform in education fields has been propelled to be deeper and deeper, with the rapid development of knowledge economy and information technology, as well as the demand of executing the fundamental mission for people cultivation from our country. Enhancing the quality of teachers has become an important prerequisite for improving the quality of education and a key factor impacting the comprehensive reform of education. However, by observing several training activities and reviewing the literatures, we see that the traditional approaches for training teachers have widespread problems that they only pay attention to pass the cognitive theoretical knowledge, and neglect the individual and practical experience of teachers. As a result, they have limited functions to improve the professional development of teachers. The training of teachers is lacking of a method of learning, in which the practical activities dominates and the personal experiences and reflections are emphasized. The introduction of Action Learning to the training of teachers has the advantage that it can enrich the methods and help deepening the understanding of the theory for the training of teachers.Action Learning is a study method for adults that are based on the experiences and reelections of the learners and aimed to solve practical problems. Its application has been witnessed being significant in business management and civil service training. After a study of the existing literature on Action Learning, we found that it is fundamental to the training of teacher but the corresponding research is not through enough. Based on the theory of Action Learning, we first conduct a research with certain breadth and depth by questionnaires and interviews to the ideology and politics Teachers in middle schools of Guangxi. Then, we get cleared the demands from these teachers for the training with Action Learning, and examine the current issues in their training from the view point of Action Learning. Finally, we try and construct a program of Action Learning for the training of ideology and politics Teachers from middle schools.This paper contains the following 6 parts.First, by arranging and analyzing current literature on Action Learning, we found that there are many existing works on the theory and practice of Action Learning. However, in the field of teacher training, the application of Action Learning is not so deep for the training of subject teachers that further research is demanded.Second, based on study of ’action’ and ’learning’, we further analyze the concept of Action Learning and review the main streams and theoretical basis of Action Learning. We also discuss the main ingredients of Action Learning for teacher training. The work of this part provides a solid theoretical basement for further exploring the Action Learning in teacher training.Third, based on the theory of Action Learning, as well as the result of our survey, we analyze the importance of Action Learning in training ideology and politics Teachers from middle schools, as well as the tendency of their demands. We show that the application of Action Learning is applicable and of great importance in training ideology and politics Teachers from middle schools. Also, we find that these teachers are inclined to participate training activities with Action Learning.In the fourth part, we get cleared the current condition on the training of teachers from middle schools in Guangxi by questionnaires to the teachers from 28 schools in 9 cities and and interviews to several principals and teachers. In the view of Action Learning, we see that the most important one among the problems in teacher training is the training method.In the fifth part, based on the analysis of the factors that impact the Action Learning of training ideology and politics Teachers from middle schools, we construct an Action Learning approach for training them. We described the process of this approach and discussed its application via a combination with the practices from a certain city in Guangxi.Finally, we conclude this thesis by reviewing the work finished in this paper. We summarized the main contents of this thesis and point out its shortcomings. In addition, we give a consideration of prospective researches.
