Ecological problem is now a global concern because ecology environment is closely associated with human beings’survival and development. In recent years, the Party and government attach great importance to the construction of ecological civilization. A series of policy decisions have been made to make sure the significance and status of ecological construction. The improvement of people’s consciousness on ecological civilization could promote the effective carrying out of the ideas of ecological civilization. The best way to form the concept of ecological civilization is to carry out the education of ecological civilization. High school students are the backbone of the country and the hope of the future. They are in a crucial period of physical and psychological development. Their worldview, value and ecological view are on the forming period. The discipline of ideology and politics in high school are thoughtful, practical and comprehensive. Its main responsibility is to cultivate qualified citizens, so it should help students form correct concept about ecological civilization and good qualities of ecological civilization. To carry out ecological civilization education, improve their consciousness of ecological civilization and help them form habits of ecological civilization could not only improve ecological civilization consciousness and cultural accomplishment in the whole country, but also help us cultivate qualified personnel for the new century. The study of the teaching of ecological civilization in the ideology and politics discipline is to keep up the pace, to implement the policy of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, which is of great significance to economy’s sustainable development and the completion of a moderately prosperous society’s construction.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part includes background and significance of the topic, domestic and foreign research reviews, research ideas and research methods. The second part discusses the content and necessity of ecological civilization education. The content is explained from two aspects:ecological civilization and the education of ecological civilization. The necessity of the ecological civilization teaching in senior high school is mainly demonstrated in three aspects. The third part analyzes the achievements that ecological civilization teaching has made in senor high school and the problems that it is facing. The fourth part puts forward the strategy that the teaching of ideology and politics in senior high school could be combined with the teaching of ecological civilization. The techniques include the following five ones: setting some appropriate goals for ecological civilization teaching, improving teachers’ qualifications of ecological civilization, digging out the contents that are imbued with ecological civilization from the text book, adopting appropriate teaching methods, permeating ecological civilization teaching into extracurricular activities.
