Festival Sports Activities Research Of Miao Nationality Agglomeration

The festival sports activity is not only the main content of the folk festival, but it is also an important part of traditional sports and even a window displaying national culture. Owing to its unique charm, rich cultural value and powerful fitness entertainment function, the festival sports activity is everywhere in life and production, reflecting the ethnic customs, cultural customs and behavior and psychological characteristics. The festival sports activities, as an emotional connection and communication platform among ethnic minority areas, ethnic villages and siblings, promote regional peace and stability.This thesis analyzes the project, distribution, types, characteristics and current situation of the festival sports activities in Miao-populated areas in western Hunan by using literature, interviews, field visits, questionnaires, mathematical statistics and other research methods from multidisciplinary perspectives such as cultures, anthropology, sociology, ethnology, sports science. The results are as follows. First, there are numerous festival sports activities in the habitat of Miao Nationality of Xiangxi, which is amount to more than hundreds with about fifty-five of them are commonly carried out presenting more or less the same pattern in Xiangxi distribution of various regions. Second, many types of sports activities cover of the festival with four types in minority including competition, games, dancing, acting. Third, sports activities is rich and colorful. There are different themes in the region of the folk festival activities each year which is about12 times with different forms. Forth, women account for a larger proportion in those activities. The participants are different in age with few young people and low degree of education. The amount of participants are between ten to fifteen thousand which is very spectacle. Fifth, the utilization rate of sports site is low and there are few fixed place used for festival sports activities. The Sources of funds are mainly from Government grants, villagers self-financing and corporate sponsorship. Besides, there are lack of special holiday sports organization and management personnel. Sixth, the implementation of festival sports activities is effective which plays a significant role in promoting economic, sports and cultural of local areas. Last but not least, by analyzing and surveying the content, organizing form, scale, organization and management, implementation effect and other factors of the festival sports activities, we found there exists some problems while carrying out the festival sports activities such as simplification of forms and weak culture connotation, uneven population levels and fewer young people, tourism resource development, and commercialization, loose management of the organization and weak legal system concept, shortage of funds and limited place and equipment as well as modern culture shock and s intense survival environment etc.In view of the existing problems, this thesis put forward to promote the development of the areas of Xiangxi miao festival sports activities. Namely, paying attention to the cultural heritage and carrying forward the sports festival, developing and promoting festival sports activities, strengthening the combination of sports and sports festival, realizing the integration development festival sports and tourism, perfecting holiday sports heritage protection measures, strengthening the budget devoted to ensure workplace equipment in place, taping local resources to build a holiday sports brand so as to promote the protection of traditional sports non-material cultural heritage and prosperity of the economy, culture and sports of ethnic minorities in western Hunan province.
