Curriculum Reform of Basic Education proposes to establish the course system in national, local and school levels and thus transforming the traditional single national level. The establishment of local school-based courses which reflect cultural characteristics aims to achieve the effective use of local resources, to expand current learning methods and to broaden the scope of Chinese learning. Therefore, it is one of the most important progresses of the reform. My hometown, Mangyang, is one of the five counties in China administered exclusively by Miao nationality. It enjoys abundant cultural resources of Miao nationality. Exploiting and developing these cultural resources is not only conducive to local culture heritage, but also to the buildup of local Chinese courses, which will definitely contributes to improvement of both teachers and students.This dissertation aims to study the exploitation and development of cultural resources of Miao nationality in Mayang in high school Chinese teaching, and to provide certain experiences for the curriculum reform. The article includes four chapters:Chapter One introduces cultural resources of Miao nationality in Mayang, particular their common traits and unique features;Chapter Two elaborates the necessity of developing high-school Chinese teaching and the meaning of exploiting cultural resources in three distinctive aspects;Chapter Three certain principles and strategies of above progress. Development and utilization Development and utilization needs to adhere to the unity of regional locality and diversity, of practicality and development, of procedures and results, and of independence and collaboration. The process of the curriculum development includes environmental analysis, target setting, curriculum organization, curriculum implementation and curriculum evaluation. The analysis of the strategy is also embedded in these five aspects.Chapter Four offers cases to authenticate the feasibility and effectiveness of the above principles and strategies, hence providing a dependable reference.
