A peer group is both a social group and a kind of informal group of people who have similar age, interests, values, background and social status. Peer education in colleges and universities refers to the education carried out by adopting a planned and purposeful method with the aim of guiding and organizing college student to teach and learn from each other on the experience from life, work and study. Meanwhile peer education also can help students to communicate timely both mentally and physically and lead the peers to offer support and spiritual encouragement to their partners as far as they can do. They are supposed to fully experience the love and care from their peers so as to achieve complementary advantages, to get mutual promotion and to grow together. Peer education model is an effective way for college students to do self education, self management and self service.For a long time, the impact by low number of full-time and professional counselors restricts Tianjin Normal University Jingu college. In order to accommodate this situation, Jingu college had been trying to implement the peer education mode since 2012. After a period of exploration on selection of outstanding student cadres, the establishment of peer student organizations, improving students’ management work and there turned out to have some good results. Therefore, the college determined to implement the mode on a large-scale. Through peer education, the efficiency of the college management from all aspects can be improved and comprehensive reform can be achieved.During the implementation process of peer education, a series of management problems are unavoidably appeared. For instance, the philosophy should be understood in-depth and there existed the incomplete construction system, the management of peer education needs to be strengthened, etc.. If these problems cannot be taken seriously and addressed early, peer education mode in student management wouldn’t be carried out smoothly.This paper reviews the application process of peer education mode in Tianjin Normal University on daily management, academic management, mental health education and employment guidance in student management. The paper is also the summary and the analysis of related problems of peer education mode with the focus on its unique function and put forward the countermeasures. In addition, it is also the discussion on the exploration of college peer education management mode with independent characteristics, the optimization in practical application of the college student management work. The main purpose is not only to improve the actual level on Tianjin Normal University Jingu College student management, but also for constructing a new mode as well as to provide some practical cases and cultivating new ideas. |
