The fundamental task of vocational colleges is to develop technology applied talents who have some theoretical knowledge and practical ability, and vocational teacher is an important force to complete the task. And the professional qualities and status of vocational teachers directly affects the quality of personnel training in vocational colleges, and therefore improving the professional quality of teachers is particularly important. Promoting the professional development of teachers is the most important way to improve teachers’ professional quality vocational, it is not only the need to develop vocational colleges, but also the necessary for teachers’ own growth and development. At present, the study of higher vocational teachers’ professional development is still in its infancy, Although some articles have been published in recent years, but these articles for the basic content of higher vocational teachers’ professional development, theoretical basis, development standard, the study of the development path have been short of integrity and systemic. Mostly studies how to improve the teachers’ economic status and social status are from the macro perspective, there are few researchers from the perspective of teacher’s own power supply- demand to study the path of teacher’s professional development. Moreover, research that systematically discusses how to apply Maslow’s self-fulfillment theory to solve the problem of higher vocational teachers’ professional development is few.Maslow’s Self-actualization Theory points out that people have abilities to pursuit self-realization and show self-value actively. The purpose of this document is change traditional manipulation, utilitarian driving methods of teachers’ professional development, regard higher vocational teachers as self-realization, put forward system, mature, with self as the starting point of higher vocational teachers’ professional development path.Based on the survey of five higher vocational colleges of Nanchang, and from the perspective of Self-actualization Theory, the author found that teachers’ professional development also has the following main problems: The present situation of higher vocational teachers’ professional development satisfaction is relatively low; Higher vocational teachers’ professional knowledge structure is relatively old, education research ability is low; Lack of independent consciousness of higher vocational teachers’ professional development; Higher vocational colleges part-time teacher management mechanism is not perfect; Higher vocational teachers’ assessment and incentive system to be improved; Higher vocational teachers’ training system is relatively backward. These problems in different extent hindered the development of higher vocational teachers’ self-realization, at the same time affected the process of higher vocational teachers’ professional development.From Maslow’s self-fulfillment theory, this article put forward the following path to promote the development of higher vocational teachers’ professional: Set up the professional development of autonomous consciousness, strengthen the autonomy of higher vocational teachers’ professional development; Improve people-centric higher vocational teacher training programs; Seek diversity, openness of "double type" vocational teacher training; Promote teachers "people-oriented" management approach; Perfect a sound system of higher vocational teachers’ incentive and evaluation; Attaches great importance to the part-time teachers achieve self-actualization needs. Through these paths, higher vocational teachers get professional development, at the same time, has also had its own growth and maturity.
