The Research On The Educational Function Of University Students’ Volunteer Service

The volunteer service in China started in 1993. Since then, China’s volunteer service has developed not only in scale and numbers but in types and contents. China’s volunteer service plays a more and more important role. College students are the main part of volunteer service. Volunteer service serving as one part of college social practices activities is encouraged by the society. The educational function of university students’ volunteer is emerged to the he college students’ volunteers, the volunteer service object and the other social public. Although the educational function of university students’ volunteer has made an achievement, there are also many problems. So to further strengthen the study of education function of college students volunteer service, to explore the better ways to implement education function of college students volunteer service have important research value.This thesis mainly discussed from four aspects: educational function of college students volunteer service. The first part mainly elaborated the basic theory of the college students volunteer service, analysis of the meaning of college students volunteer service, its characteristics and the theory evidence.The second part discussed the educational function of college students volunteer service, the essay discusses from three aspects,that is volunteer to volunteer service object and the social public. It is important in forming right values, shaping perfect personalities, improving moral level, strengthening social abilities and waking up service objects service consciousness, increasing the social sense of belonging, improving its knowledge and life skills, enhancing the ability to receive love and promoting the formation of national service consciousness, transferring the positive social energy, purifying social atmosphere and so on. This third part, expounded current status of college students volunteer service education function about education from the college students volunteer service, the essay discusses the achievements, the problems found and its reasons. The educational function of university students’ volunteer service has been made these achievements: theoretical research has been deepened, the guiding work is strengthening, the organization and management is continuous improving, operating mechanism constantly moving towards the right track. But it also has problems: lack of knowledge on the function, educational management mechanism is not mature, the contents of educating is single, lack of the educational support network and lack of education guarantee system. The fourth part, explore the way to strengthen college students volunteer service education function : stepping up the publicity to the volunteer service, strengthening the professional training, optimizing the organizational management, extending practice platform, integrating the social resources and perfecting the legal security system.the further exploration is made in order to explore educational function of college students volunteer service.
