Calligraphy, has been inextricably linked with the Chinese civilization since ancient times, it has been through thousands of years, and creating a unique mysterious oriental art system. In recent years, our country began to advocate contemporary students for learning Chinese calligraphy, in order to cultivate overall development of primary and secondary school students. This is not only the inheritance of outstanding culture, but also can develop students’ patriotism. Calligraphy is the essence of Chinese culture, it’s the responsibility of each primary and secondary student for learning Chinese calligraphy culture of five thousand years.However, today, the development of calligraphy in rural areas of China is still not optimistic. Schools regard enrollment rate as the main principle, they increase the importance of the Chinese, Math and English, and ignore Music, Sports and Art. Especially for teachers, they occupy students’ Music, Sports and Art curriculum randomly, which further lead to the students’ shallow understanding of moral education. Therefore, the calligraphy teaching has been hampered in the development of township teaching.In view of this situation, the author uses the forms of questionnaire and educational practice for calligraphy teaching investigation on the students and teachers from Mafang No.1 Middle School in Yanling County, Henan Province. It’s mainly studied from four aspects. Firstly, sketching the concept of calligraphy teaching and writing, as well as the significance of primary and middle school students for learning calligraphy and impact of calligraphy education promotion. Secondly, analyzing the calligraphy survey of Mafang No.1 Middle School in Yanling County, Henan Province, and illustrating it with data form, image, etc. Thirdly, analyzing the present situation of Mafang No.1 Middle School respectively from five factors of the society, school, teachers, students and families Fourthly, giving reasonable improvement measures against the current situation of calligraphy teaching, such as paying attention to the training of calligraphy teachers, improving calligraphy teaching ability of teachers in the course, encouraging students’ enthusiasm to learn calligraphy, etc. At the same time,it may have certain reference value and practical significance for the popularization of calligraphy education in other areas of primary and secondary schools.
