Curriculum revolution is one of the major research tasks for education reform, teaching material as an essential part of curriculum is an important source of knowledge for students. Since the autumn of 2012, Junior Biology for junior middle School Students, published by the People’ s Education Press, has been put into use in Ganzhou City. Research plans was made in order to understand the students usage.First, found aspects as follows from questionnaires of different types of students:(1)Students’ overall opinion about the new textbook.(2)Students’ idea about the contents in text books.(3) Students’ opinion on the teachers’ teaching method.(4)Students’ learning strategy.(5)Teachers’ using supporting materials. To understand the junior middle school students’ actual usage by the new textbook and found problems existing in the use of materials and the analysis of the reasons.Through the survey found the following points:(1)The difficulty level of the textbook is appropriately set on the medium level. And the columns of the textbook is novel and reasonable. And most students generally believed the teaching material is so interesting.(2)Most students have difficulty applying knowledge from the textbook into daily problems.(3)Inquiring activities are hard to conduct because of a waste of time and energy, and they can’t be shown in High School Entrance Examination.(4)Most teachers have a good conduct of the textbook.(5)Most students prefer interactive learning strategy under the teachers’ guide.(6)Most students still have not get into the habit of preview and review.Interview made on the basis of the questionnaire and class observation, we found:(1)The teaching material of the first grade full of contents and inquiry activities, so it is difficult to achieve the teaching goal by two class a week.(2) Students analyze the cause of bad grades mainly has three points: They don’t have enough attention and the correct learning methods, And they don’t have the induction and summary in time.(3) Student’s choice of method to learn more and more diverse, but many students still follow the traditional learning methods.(4)A lot of students think exercises design gradation and Difficulty gradient is not scientific.(5)No matter of Major work class or ordinary class student,not pay enough attention to biological study.Through these investigations, here are some advice:(1)The new textbook had a loosely arrangement of the knowledge points, which require teachers’ process and integration, And teachers should better teaching strategies. Also, schools should provide resources to make sure the success of biology teaching.(2)Teachers should learn to alter between different role, during teaching process.(3)Teachers should pay attention to the change of students’ learning methods and strategies.(4)Suggestions about the improvement of the Teacher’s Book.(5)Teachers should cultivate student’s learning strategy.Hopefully, these suggestions would help with teachers’ teaching and at the same time, provide theory and guidance for a better teaching management, leading to a progress for both teachers and students.
