| Objective:In order to fully understand the development of the population quality in Shanxi province.On the basis of defining the research category,from the connotation of population quality,following the generally recognized, scientific,comparability and other principles of selecting indicators, combined with the actual of Shanxi Province, this study establishes the evaluation index system of population quality in Shanxi province.In order to put forward constructive opinions and suggestions for the further improvement of the population quality level of Shanxi Province,provide reference for evaluating of population quality of Shanxi Province and formulate relevant population policies for related government departments in the future,the study comprehensively analyses problems in the development of population quality and finds out factors that restrict the improvement of population quality in Shanxi Province.Methods:Literature research method: Through careful and in-depth analysis study of the related literature, the research clears the connotation and extension for confirming the elements of population quality; According to the evaluation index system of population quality in Shanxi Province,the study carefully review Yearbooks and census statistics for collecting the related indicators data.Comparative analysis method: The study compares the traditional evaluation methods(including PQLI, ASHA and HDI) with the current commonly used evaluationmethods(including Analytic hierarchy process, Factor analysis and principal component analysis)of population quality,and chooses the principal component analysis on the basis of clearing their respective advantages and disadvantages to evaluate the development status of population quality in Shanxi Province.Statistical analysis method: In order to facilitate comprehensive evaluation and quantitative analysis,the research utilizes the principal component analysis of SPSS22.0statistical software from longitudinal and transverse directions to evaluate the development status of population quality in Shanxi Province.Results:(1) The research clears the connotation and extension of population quality and is identified with the evaluation index system of population quality in Shanxi Province that includes Physical quality, Scientific and Cultural quality,Labor skill quality three elements.(2) The research has established the evaluation index system of a total 12 indicators of three dimensions of population quality in Shanxi province.The dimension of Physical Quality includes the Average Life Expectancy,Proportion of Working Age Population,Number of Health Technical Personnel per million,Infant Mortality Rate and Incidence of Birth Defects;The dimension of Scientific and Cultural quality includes Average Education Years,Number of College Students per million and Illiteracy Rate.The dimension of Labor skill quality includes Scientific and technical personnel account for the proportion of practitioners,Per thousand population with technical personnel,Per one hundred thousand population patent applications and Labor productivity.(3) From a longitudinal quantitative comparative analysis,during 2000-2012,the results of the principal component analysis of the population quality development status in Shanxi Province show :the scores of the first principal component(F1) of the year2000, 2005, 2010,2012 in Shanxi Province are-1.235,-0.356,0.592,0.999,the scores of the comprehensive statistics(F) of the year 2000, 2005, 2010,2012 in Shanxi Provinceare-1.031,-0.446,0.542,0.935.Both of the scores of the first principal component(F1)and the comprehensive statistics(F) are increasing year by year,at the same time,the changes of the two trends are basically the same,the trend is consistent with the variance contribution rate of the first principal component 89.39%.This suggests that the first principal component synthesizes most of the original index information, which is called“Comprehensive factor”. However,the scores of the second principal component(F2) of the year 2000,2005,2010,2012 in Shanxi Province are 0.846,-1.435, 0.134, 0.456.There is greater changes in score ranking between the second principal component(F2) and the comprehensive statistics(F).the greater changes is consistent with the variance contribution rate of the second principal component 8.78%.This suggests that the second principal component only synthesize a very small part of the original index information,which is called “Auxiliary factor”.(4) From the horizontal quantitative comparative analysis,during the year of2010-2012,the results of the principal component analysis of the population quality development status of 11 cities in Shanxi Province show :the scores of the comprehensive statistics(F) of population quality of 11 cities of Shanxi Province were scattered.Taiyuan,as the provincial capital of Shanxi Province,the score of the comprehensive statistics is 1.477, which is far ahead and ranked first in the whole province;The city of Shuozhou,Yangquan ranked the second and third in the whole province, the score of population quality comprehensive statistics were 0.306 and0.241;The city of Jinzhong,Xinzhou, Datong, Changzhi of population quality score of the comprehensive statistics were-0.042,-0.051,-0.058,-0.124, ranked the fourth, fifth,sixth, seventh in the province’s 11 cities;The last four rank are followed by the city of Yuncheng, Linfen, Lvliang and Jincheng, the score of population quality of the comprehensive statistics were-0.356,-0.422,-0.526 and-0.613.Conclusions:The research has initially established the evaluation index system of population quality in Shanxi province that includes a total of 12 indicators three elements of Physical quality, Scientific and Cultural quality,Labor skill quality;During the period of2000-2012,the overall level of population quality has been continuously improved in Shanxi Province,the improvement shows a steady upward trend;The year 2010-2012,the development level of population quality of 11 cities in Shanxi Province is uneven and there is a big difference in the inside,at the same time, there are obvious differences between the different regions. |
