An Individual Service On The Adaptation To School For The Korean College

After entering the university,the Korean college students encounter the different of language, environment,learning style,education mode and interpersonal relationships. These difficulties made many Korean students can not adapt to the school at the university of life,and affect their entire university life directly,even affect the future employment. The author intervenes in Korean students’ school adjustment problems from the perspective of social work and finds the present situation of the real understanding which they face. The author tries to analyze the real result of their problems then help the client of the ways of social work. It is meaning for the Korean students’ to have a physical and mental health and to have a positive life in the future.The author provides individual services for a Korean college who have the difficulty of adapt to school from the social work in order to help the client to adapt to the school life. First the author helps the client start from the aspect of the problem which according to the task-centered mode. The author and the client find the problems of adapting on school. Then the author helps the client sort the problems and classify them. Finally the author and the client determine two core problems which are the difficulty of adapting the role and the problem of interpersonal. Second the author intervene the problems using the methods of social work. The author finds the difficulties of adapting school are result from the different of the culture. So the author provides the service which uses the cultural adaptation theory as the background,use the helpful tips of the social work. Finally,the author summarizes and rethinks on the service after the completion of the services and hope to provide some experience to the researches of the adapting school life for the Korean students.Through the eight specific services, the client solves the core problems and ease emotional. She could adapt the school life even improve the ability of cultural adaptation. The understanding and accepting of the Han culture for the client would provide great helpful for her life in school and the way in the future.
