The problem about the academic burden of the primary and middle school students has plagued the development of education in our country. It is not only seriously hampering the smooth implementation of the quality education in China, but also resulting in negative impact on the physical and mental health of the primary and middle school students. Although our country has taken a series of measures to resolve the heavy burden of the primary and middle school students, the results are not satisfying. Therefore, the problem about academic burden is still one of a major issue in our current basic education research. In recent years, after-school tutoring rises in the education sector with the rapid development and attracts a lot of attention. It is very common that participate after-school tutoring among junior school students in China. The high-intensity tutoring occupies their too much spare time, and results in negative impact on the physical and mental health. What is the impact on the academic burden of Junior high school students, whether the tutoring will increase the academic burden. There is little research about these problems in education sector.According to the reasons above, the author did the survey in 6 classes in schools of the city of J in S province. Based on the survey statistics, we may conclude: There are more than 70% of junior school students receive some form of supplementary tutoring. The 7-grade students have the largest percentage to receive tutoring.71.4% percent of surveyed students receive tutoring of math subject, the next are English and science. The tutoring of junior students has high intensity. More than 70% of the students participate in tutoring in the weekly number of 1-3 times, the average of weekly tutoring time between 2-6 hours. If we add the tutoring homework time, the intensity will more heavy. The survey also found that the academic burden of juniorstudents is not optimistic. Sleep time, homework time and other objective indicators are inconsistent with the relevant policy. There are differences between groups of subjective burden of junior school students. The students of grade nine have the most heaviest subjective burden. Compared to other students low-achievers have more heavier subjective burden.Through the quantitative research found that different tutoring intensity there exist significant differences between the academic burden. Different tutoring intensity has different sleeping time, free time and supplementary books. The students who have not receive tutoring have the lightest objective burden. Different tutoring intensity there exist significant differences between the academic task pressure, difficulty pressure, achievement stress, learning fatigue and study-weariness. The correlate analysis showed that the after-school tutoring is positive correlated with the academic burden of junior students. The number of supplementary books, weekly tutoring time, tutoring work time are positive effects on students subjective burden. The number of tutoring, weekly tutoring time and tutoring homework time was an effective positive predictor of junior students burden. This shows that junior school students academic burden are closely related to after-school tutoring activities. After-school tutoring is an important factor affecting junior high school students academic burden.Through the survey the author further analysis the harmful effects of the burden of junior high school by tutoring, mainly from the influence on the students spare time and on students subjective feelings and the impact on students physical and mental health. Although the tutoring overall increased the students burden, the positive impacts on the part of the students can t be ignored. For part of the junior high school students, after-school tutoring is a kind of active behavior, not a burden. It will reduce the heavy school academic burden in certain circumstances. Finally, based on the above analysis the author proposes improvements to the education authorities, schools, parents and tutoring agencies which are closely related to education, hoping after-school tutoring can play a more positive role in way of implementation of resolve heavy academic burden.
