Since the advent of the Industrial Engineering as an independent discipline, IndustrialEngineering technology continues to develop and has become an effective tool to improveproductivity. Making full use of the theory and technology in Industrial Engineering and LeanProduction can benefit enterprises a lot.The company of KSWM bases on the production of plastic mold. It develops and makesplastic mold and plastic products such as household appliances parts, computers parts,audio-visual parts, telecommunications parts, information parts and auto parts. There are a lotof advanced production equipment, including a variety of different tonnage of injectionmolding machines and silk screen injection and assembly lines. KSWM company mainlymake up of molds department, injection molding department and printing department.According to the analysis on the production orders and production status, we find thatthe order turn out to be multiple variety and small batch production, and this situation putsforward higher requirements on the efficiency of the production system. However, we foundthat the work of exchange dies spent too much time and the productivity of the assembly linein printing department was not very high. Thus the production system can’t cope with thechallenges of the multiple variety and small batch production. So we put the theory of SMEDinto action. Finally we make a success to decrease the time of exchange dies from102minutes to60minutes. For the problem of the low efficiency in assembly line, we adoptedthe cell production and we changed the flow line into the U-shaped line. We make productionsystem more flexible and the production system adapt to changes in market environment andthe company’s internal environment. We also improved the balancing rate of the assembly lineand production efficiency. In short, by using of Industrial Engineering and Lean Productiontheory, we optimized the production system of the company and improved the productionefficiency, which enabled the company to face the challenges from the market of multiplevariety and small batch production.
