Research On Improvement Of Production Process In A Company Based On Value Stream Mapping

With the divergent demands and the violent competitions from the market, themanufacturing industries are facing more and more challenges: high cost, high employeeturnover rate, low profit margin, high quality and puncture delivery date. They must promotethe management level to keep their market share. As a kind of efficient tool of lean productiontheory to solve these problems, Value stream mapping will play an important role.Based on the research and summary to Toyota Auto production mode in the “InternetAuto Project”, Lean production was proposed as a kind of good manufacturing mode by MITin1990. The core is to input less cost and output more better quality products or services byreducing all sorts of wastes in the supply chain. Value Stream Map analyses the flow ofmaterial and the information, and researches all production activities, then sorts them into twoparts: value added part and non value added part, finds out possible wastes in the process,finally improve them via ways and tools of lean production.In the thesis, the object of study is soft candy process in A company. It researched themarket demand and the production process, collected and analysed the production data, drewthe current value stream map, found out the improvement opportunities, and then drew out thefuture ideal value stream mapping. Guided by the future value stream mapping, the projectteam makes use of the series of lean tools, just like SMED, KANBAN management, andimplemented the improvement measures to achieve the small batch production mode toconform to the divergent demands from market.Via value stream map and some lean tools, the project team finally achieved the target ofthe whole project.
