Non-ferrous metals industry is an important basic raw material industry whichplays an indispensable role in economic construction, national defense construction, social development and stable employment. At the beginning of50’s, the basic ofChina’s non-ferrous metal industry is very weak. After60years development, especially after high-speed development, the non-ferrous metal industry has alreadyformed the geologic survey, mining, smelting and other categories of a completeindustrial system. In1949, the output of China’s ten kinds of commonly usednon-ferrous metal was13.3kilotons. In2013, the output is40290kilotons. However, after the high speed development, Chinese non-ferrous metal industry also has someproblems such as overcapacity, declining enterprises, import and export volumedecreased and so on.In this paper, using the classical paradigm of industrial competitiveness--Potter’s "Diamond Model" to evaluate the international competitiveness of China’snon-ferrous metal industry, Potter believes that the industry competitiveness is mainlycomposed of production factors, demand conditions, related industries andcompetition, corporate strategy and competition, opportunity and government sixfactors. Therefore, by means of quantitative analysis of some indicators ofinternational competitiveness of non-ferrous metal industry situation, and the use of"Diamond Model" to analyze the influencing factors of international competitivenessof China’s nonferrous metal industry, and according to the results, put forwardcountermeasures and suggestions for improving the international competitiveness ofChina’s nonferrous metal industry.
