Themed hotel is one of emerging morphology of the hotel industry who based on ahumanities or natural scenery and unique fusion of cultural material and having a uniquestyle of service to meet consumer’s experience demand. Themed hotel has generatedmore than50years and then swept the world quickly. But in the development of thethemed hotel, because of the lack of systematic theoretical guidance of professional,many hotels wading across the stream by feeling the way, it also produced a number ofdevelopment issues. As an innovative hotel mode, whether to keep exuberant vitality inthe baptism of the market and occupy a stable market share is closely linked with acompetitive advantage. Therefore, combining with the relevant theory of competitiveadvantage, finding the foundation to built competitive advantage of themed hotel, andpropose feasible strategies to build competitive advantage has far-reaching significanceto guide themed hotel to develop in a healthy way.Paper is divided into five chapters,The introduction part summarizes the domesticand foreign research on themed hotel and the theory of competitive advantage, Based onthe related literature, summarized the definition, characteristics and the research directionof themed hotel, and also sums up the theory of competitive advantage in thedevelopment context systematically.The first chapter mainly analyzes the developmentand characteristics of typical themed hotel at domestic and abroad, at the same time,summarize the successful experience to help Y themed hotel to build competitiveadvantage. The second part analysis the current operating status of Y themed hotel, Andanalysis the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of Y themed hotel, Hopingto find the conditions required to build competitive advantage of Y themed hotel. In thethird chapter, this paper wants to explore the basis of Y themed hotels to buildcompetitive advantage from typical successful themed hotel of domestic and abroad andthe analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of Y themed hotel. Basicresources including unique architecture and human resources plus the theme of culture resources, these resources transformed into a competitive advantage must also aid othercore competencies such as resource integration capability, innovation extension abilityand self-learning ability.Finally, this paper formed a specific implementation strategy about how to buildcompetitive advantage of Y themed hotel.This strategy including create themedatmosphere in the hotel’s public areas,themed hotel’s Housekeeping department andFood and Beverage Department,brand specialty marketing, experiential marketing, etc.And through the PDCA cycle to evaluation and improvement the strategy to buildcompetitive advantage of Y themed hotel, and ultimately help Y themed hotel become themost distinctive cave themed hotel on Yan’an mid-range hotel market.
