With international hotels massively coming in Yunnan, the competitions of hotel industry are increasing fiercely, themed hotel as a new form of hotel industry, could bring unforgettable experience, profound memory to tourists, it also could indicate one direction for Yunnan local hotel development. To build a themed hotel needs to accord with the characteristics of the local society, so this paper uses a variety of theories and analysis methods, to analyze the position and development of themed hotel in Yunnan, trying to support domestic and Yunnan themed hotel development study with some theoretical and practical examples.From the point of the development of domestic themed hotel, which has been made some related theoretical researches of themed hotel, and also for Yunnan themed hotel. This paper focused on the following several parts to discuss:The first part is Introduction, the thesis research background, the research of domestic and foreign themed hotel, research purpose, meaning, content and method.The second part is Stating the related theories, the definition characteristics, classification of themed hotel,, and the meaning and contents of experience economy, PEST analysis and STP positioning theory used in following parts, aiming at providing theoretical basis the development research of themed hotel.The third part Discussing the current situation of domestic, foreign and Yunnan themed hotels, and pointing out the advantage conditions for the development of themed hotel.The fourth part Analyzing the current situation of the themed hotel development, raise the existing problems in the management process.The fifth part Determining the development strategy of Yunnan ethnic culture themed hotel,using PEST analysis method to analyze the macro environment and STP positioning theory to choose target market, and puts forward development ideas of Yunnan ethnic culture themed hotel, using experience marketing and cultural marketing means to exploit the market.The sixth part Conclusions and prospects for this paper, and put forward the innovation and deficiency of this paper, and put forward the prospects of the themed hotel future development.This paper, from angle of themed hotel development in Yunnan, by using foreign and domestic themed hotel development experience for reference, using literature analysis, comparative analysis and case study on the themed hotel in Yunnan development of research and analysis, it concluded that suitable theme for the development of Yunnan is ethnic culture theme, and further analyzes the feasibility of development of ethnic culture themed hotel in Yunnan, at the same time, the author puts forward the ethnic culture themed hotel research of Yunnan,it has realistic significance for other types of themed hotel or domestic themed hotel development.
