Hinterland can be explained as irradiation scope of a port, or the area thatprovide cargo to a port, or where a port be selected among all the ports available. Thecompetitiveness and the convenience of transport are two important factors among allreasons that could influence the scope of hinterland. As one of the inland provinces in China, Jiangxi province don’t have a port of itsown to export cargo,so Jiangxi has no chose but to relay on one of ports located inthe coastline. Compared to the ports that already selected by Jiangxi, Port ofMeizhouwan could be a better choice in view of the geographical distance. And theopening of Xiangpu railway makes the possible choice real.Under the background that the Xiangpu railway opened in2013, this paper willtake a view of partitioning method to research the influence of Jiangxi’s choice ofexpert ports on account of the railway. After compared many method in hinterlandpartitioning, this paper choose the Newtonian attraction model with a system ofevaluation to account the scope of hinterland. The next step is doing a little adjust ofthe model to emphasize the importance of the railway in the counting process. Thendraw a conclusion of how the opening of Xiangpu railway effect Jiangxi to choose aport between Port of Meizhouwan and other ports.
