On the basis of recognition of multi-index comprehensive evaluation, the essay questioned the applicability of the Objective Weighting Method and PCA among comprehensive evaluation, and illustrated respectively from theoretical and practical aspect. In addition, the essay also analyzed the reason that why those inapplicability methods were widely used. The primary content of this dissertation are listed as follows:(1) Through analyze and understand multi-index comprehensive evaluation, there are two fundamental understanding:First of all, the objective is to make the final comprehensive evaluation index can be accurately and objectively reflect the relative position in the overall evaluation things. Second, in the process of comprehensive evaluation, subjective judgments of experts are crucial in the process of comprehensive evaluation, such as understanding of evaluate tasks, the construction of index system, assignment of weight, etc.(2) On the basis of fundamental understanding of multi-index comprehensive evaluation, the essay offered applicability analysis to subjective and objective weight method respectively, and correct academia’s misunderstanding on the flaws of the two weight methods. The real flaw of the Subjective Weighting Method is its high cost, but not the so-called "strong subjectivity and arbitrary","poor objectivity"; The result of Objective Weighting Method do not correspond with person’s subjective judgment, this is not only a "flaw", but rather, a huge defect.(3) By analyzing the fundamental theory of Principal Component Analysis, we regard it as effective tool to reducing dimensions of multivariate data, but it’s inappropriate to apply into comprehensive evaluation. First, the Principal Component Analysis neglected the practical importance of index; Second, its theoretical basis are not coordinate with comprehensive evaluation; Third, the principal component fail to provide clear explanation; Fourth, the contained information of principal information may not be the comprehensive evaluation information, some principal component will not make any difference of evaluation. Fifth, the unreasonable phenomenon of "negative weight" frequently appears.(4) It is the major reason that those methods can save a large amount of costs, which explains why the Objective Weighting Method can be widely used while inapplicability in comprehensive evaluation. And, most experts ignored the influences of original data structure on results, which led to people mistakenly think that strong correlation between existing results and sorting results refers to efficiency.
