With the increasing deterioration of the ecological environment andthe depletion of natural resources, the Strategy of SustainableDevelopment is taken into the agenda. Green supply chain management arisesat the historic moment. As the source of the supply chain, green purchasingget a strong support of the government, and the manufacturing enterprisesfollow. However, this theory has not got enough attention in the retailindustry. Chain supermarket is a core of the retail supply chain, whosemanagement strategy plays an important guiding role in the developmentof the whole supply chain. Chain supermarket evaluating and managing thesuppliers with the guide of green purchasing, is an effective mean topromote green strategy. At present, China’s retail industry slows down,foreign capital pours into the national market, and the internet retailingexpands rapidly. The local supermarket chains are struggling intremendous pressure. Green purchasing can meet the green needs ofcustomers, increase the core competitiveness of the chain supermarkets,and also promote the suppliers for energy conservation and environmentalprotection. All these will achieve win-win of economic benefits andenvironmental benefits.According to the characteristics of supermarket chain management, andthe life cycle of the product, the author adds some green items, such asthe ISO14001environmental certification system, green product design,waste emissions compliance and enterprise’s green identity, into thesupplier evaluation system of the chain supermarket, aiming to improvethe quality of products and environmental performance. The articlecompares method and analytic hierarchy process (AHP), showing that factor analysis has no limit to the number of the indexes, and can better avoidthe subjectivity of the study. As a result, the paper selects the factoranalysis as the basic research method. The article selects16evaluationindexes, and puts them into four orders, naming green enterprise, greenproduct, green relationship and green operating, building the supplierperformance evaluation system. At last, the paper takes Yantai Zhenhuasupermarket as the sample, to evaluate its suppliers’ performance basedon green purchasing. The author puts forward some suggestions to thenational chain supermarket about green supplier management, which maytake some positive influence.
