Research About The Effects Of China-Asean Expo On Sino-Vietnam

With the development of world economic integration, as well as further diversification of models of international trade and its patterns, factors influencing the development of international trade are becoming varietal and intricate. As an international trade service carrier with agglomeration function and significant spillover effects, international exhibition can be viewed as a special form of international service trade, on the other hand, improving and promoting the trade relations between the host country and participating countries. China, the largest developing country in the world, and its adjacent neighbor Vietnam, which is also a developing country, have a long but a bit subtle relationship. After the normalization of Sino-Vietnam diplomatic relations in1991, the bilateral trade grows rapidly, especially China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) held in2004till now, the total bilateral trade had an average growth rate of about30%. As a big platform of serving regional economic cooperation, how does the CAEXPO contribute to the Sino-Vietnamese trade? This is the main problem to be solved in this study.Based on this, this thesis tries to discuss expo effects in the international trade by methods of econometric modeling and field investigation, taking the effects of CAEXPO on trade between China and Vietnam as an example. This thesis consists of four main parts, that is, theoretical foundation, motivation research, empirical analysis and policy proposals for optimization. Firstly, by making a theory summarization about international exhibition and international trade, the thesis takes Agglomeration economy, Comparative advantage and Factor endowment which are a combination of exhibition theory and international trade theory as its logical basis. Secondly, focusing on CAEXPO and Sino-Vietnam export and import, it analyzes the history and current situation of Sino-Vietnam trade relations, and finds that there are great changes and improvements in trade volume, commodity structure and trade position of the two nations in recent years. In addition, it shows that CAEXPO boosts trade between the two nations by optimization of diplomacy and channels and element agglomeration. Then with the analysis of panel data, and field investigation of Vietnam and Guangdong, the paper identifies the effects of CAEXPO on Sino-Vietnam trade, and concludes that the development of CAEXPO promotes Sino-Vietnam trade to some extent, but the exhibition has not fully generated economic effect yet. So, in the end of this thesis, according to the drawbacks emerging in the exhibition, this thesis puts forward some suggestions for further improvements and optimization from the perspective of Sino-Vietnam trade development.
