By entering the era of knowledge economy, the external environment becomes more complex and changeable, requiring companies to respond quickly. Growing competition and transformation requires the companies to maintain flexibility. Moreover, the staff structure of companies has also changed a lot, and knowledge workers have become the main body of enterprise employees. By considering the unique characteristics of knowledge workers, such as the pursuit of autonomy, the pursuit of success, and the pursuit of high level demands, the traditional way of incentive is not able to produce good results. Knowledge workers are the main body of enterprise core competence, and how they can be effectively motivated is of vital significance for companies. From basic theory to empirical analysis, this article studies incentive strategies for knowledge workers. Firstly, it analyzes knowledge workers’ characteristics by comparing to non-knowledge workers. Then, it consolidates knowledge workers’ demands by summarizing studies at home and abroad. Last but not least, by factor analysis and taking A company as an empirical, it extracts the motivation factors for knowledge workers, which are self-growth, independence, achievement and fortune, and gives respective incentive suggestions on those factors.
