| With the rapid development of the financing industry in China, the competition among financingcompanies has become increasingly fierce in recent years. Banking industry, one of the major part offinancing industry, has dropped its mind on how to make its management to be more effective to improvetheir competitiveness. With the development of enterprise management system in China after the reformand opening up policy, commercial banks began to focus on how to set up their own performancemanagement system (PMS). However, when comparing with the western countries, the performance PMSsof majority commercial banks are imperfect. To be specific, the PMSs adopted by Chinese commercialbanks now are becoming not suitable for them during the developing of banking industry. Therefore,banking industry need a new performance evaluation system (PES) to manage their business moreeffectively.In this research, the literature review and case study have been adopted as the major research method.The internship in bank industry of author, questionnaire and interview have been adopted as the datacollection methods. Based on the literatures and methods adopted in this study, the PMS has been analysedin depth. In this research, the research background and research purpose was introduced at first. Secondly,the conceptions of PES and Balanced Scorecard (BSC) was explained. Thirdly, the situation of Z branch ofBank of Communication (BOC) was introduced briefly. Then, the situation and problem of PES employedby Z branch of BOC was analysed and find out that PMS only focus on financial target could be one of themajor problems. Fourthly, according to the problems of PMS in Z branch of BOC, the BSC has been findout the way could be adopted to make the PES more effectively. Fifthly, how to successfully use BSC inPMS was analysed. At last, the conclusion and the research future was summed up.The purpose of this research is to help banks make a complete PMS. What is more important is toopen our mind, finical target is not the only dimension of the PES, we need to combine with other threedimensions: clients, internal management, learning and innovation in PMS. Bank need to adopt PES in along-term view to manage their performance. |
