This study is an attempt to compare tourism research from domestic and oversears by analyzing research trend, source discipline, main areas and hotspots and explore the development trend and rule of tourism research. With the help of Bibliometrics concept and relative soft wares, this paper conducts quantitative analysis of8,594English and10,243Chinese articles collected respectively from SSCI and CSSCI and also visualizes the results. After references reading and investigation, it is found that the number of tourism articles increases both in the globe and China; as to the source discipline, tourism research is heavily influenced by other disciplines like economics, geography and sociology, which is partly ascribed to researchers’ diverse education background; the main areas of tourism research concentrate on tourism economics, tourism geography, ecology and tourism management but international research takes on interdisciplinary trend; in terms of time, international research are more consistent and continuous than China.According to the above results, it can be concluded that tourism research are at the multidisciplinary age.
