Study On Characteristics Of High-Level Talents' Academic Growth In The Perspective Of Bibliometrics

As the elite of talent groups, high-level talents are main body of national science and technology innovation, and also become the dominant factor in the increasingly fierce international competition for a country. Talents'academic growth is a process of continuous accumulation and dynamic development. Although individual high-level talent has different academic growth trajectory due to the influence of different factors, it exists some certain characteristics of the group as a whole, and it may have certain relevance between the factors and characteristics. Stuty of high-level talents' academic growth process and its characteristics has certain reference value and practical significance both for individual talent's growth and national talent planning.Through combined qualitative and quantitative research methods, this research took the academic life cycle theory and the talents growthpattern system as a guide, selected 1994-2013 years Management Department of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars winners as the object of empirical research, relied on CV method and bibliometrics method, to analyse the characteristics of individual attributes and scientific research trajectory. The sample data of this research was from Internet open resource. In order to solve the problem of data heterogeneity, this research designed and developed "scientific researcher information collection service and management platform", through eight mudules of Basic Information, Learning Experience, Work Experience, PhD Thesis, Research Information, Awards, System Management and Statistical Analysis, to realize structured management of scientific researcher's data and long-term preservation of research data.Study on individual attribute characteristics of high-level talents based on CV method showed:in the field of management science, the growth cycle of high-level talents averaged about 18.5 years, and the age of they received the fund concentrated in 40-45 years of age; the proportion of female winners was far lower than the male; high-level talents' native place distribution was mainly in east and central China; in the aspect of education, nearly one-third of the high-level talents did not graduate from elite schools at their undergraduate stage, while almost all high-level talents graduated from elite schools at their graduate stage; in the aspect of teacher-student relations, most excellent high-level talents had famous supervisors, which contributed to the phenomenon of talents agglomeration; in the aspect of work experience, it showed negative correlation between high-level talents' work flow frequency and academic growth cycle, which was that the higher their work flow frequency was, the longer their growth cycle was.Study on scientific research trajectory characteristics of high-level talents based on bibliometrics method showed:in the field of management science, the co-authorship rate of SCI papers was 96.1%, and the higher the cooperation degree was, the more SCI papers were; however, SCI papers of high impact factor was still lack, and SCI papers of impact factor higher than 4 accounted for only 3.1%of the total; in the aspect of disciplines crossing, there was closely cross relationship between management science and business economics, computer science, engineering, operations science and management science, mathematics. As far as undertaking scientific research projects, the more National Natural Science Fund projects high-level talents undertook, the less their work flow frequency was, also the shorter their growth cycle was;as far as subject classification of projects, penetration from mathematical science, earth science, materials and engineering science, information science into management science reflected the interdisciplinary nature of management science; in the aspect of relevance between doctoral dissertation and main research direction, high-level talents from the other disciplines such as engineering, mathematics and medicine accounted for a large propotion, and nearly half of the Fund winners'doctoral degree was not management science.Based on Management Department of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars winners as study sample, comprehensive research found that the high-level talents' academic growth process had the following characteristics:Firstly, there was the trap effect of the work flow during high-level talents' academic growth. The work flow frequency had a negative impact on high leveltalents' academic growth cycle, so reasonable work flow was inevitable while too much work flow was not conducive to high-level talents' academic growth. Secondly, there was the recency effect of educational experience during high-level talents' academic growth. In the early stage of academic growth, school level of high-level talents'first degree had not obvious influence on their academic growth, the higher of high-level talents' degree was,the stronger dependence of school level had, and the more obvious of the recency effect was. Thirdly, there was positive effect of teacher-student relationship during high-level talents' academic growth. There was positive correlation between having a famous supervisor and high-level talents' academic growth cycle and scientific research output, which means that famous supervisor was an important condition to become high-level talents. Good teacher-student relationship helped produce high-level talents agglomeration phenomenon, also teacher-student relationship had positive effect on high-level talents'choice of main research area and work place. Fourth, there was the cooperation cross effect of scientific research during high-level talents' academic growth. Under the background of big science, social growing demand for comprehensive talents promoted interdisciplinary integration of subjects and development of research teams, as a result, scientific research cooperation has become a new normality. To a certain degree, the cooperation cross effect of scientific research was advantageous to promote high-level talents' scientific research level, and also promoted the integrity of the subjects system and meet the needs of modern society development.Study on high-level talents' academic growth process and its characteristics not only has the micro significance of individual talent growth, but also has the macro significance of high-level talents cultivation. On the micro level, it can provide relevant reference and guide for individual talent's growth, guiding them to play their own advantages and avoidance of adverse factors, finally realizing healthy development of talents' academic growth. On the macro level, by revealing the characteristics of high-level talents' academic growth, this research can help national government departments and employers recognize high-level talents' characteristics, and establish reasonable talent training mode and personnel promotion mechanism, so as to set talents policy which is benefit for high-level talents' growth and maximize the value of human resources.
