The Study Of Advanced Energy Storage Materials Industry’s Patent Strategy

With the rapid development of science and technology, in order to meet demandsof daily life and social development and solve the pressing global energy shortage andenvironmental pollution, people, on the basis of traditional materials, develop newmaterials with more excellent performance. As an important part of the new material,advanced materials for energy storage are widely applied in new energy, new energyelectric vehicle, smart grid and so on. Thus they attract the universal attention.Advanced materials for energy storage industry start relatively late but develop veryfast in China. By understanding the current status of the industry and doinginformation analysis, we found it a necessary to improve the research anddevelopment of these materials, strengthen the capacity for independent innovation ofenterprises and scientific research institutions, and possess core technology. At thesame time, to ensure the sustainable development of the industry, the technologyshould be protected by making use of patent system and establish patent strategy.In this paper, as a starting point to the advanced energy storage materials inChina, points out the significance of patent strategy to the sustained and healthydevelopment of the industry, introduces the present status of the patent strategy andenergy storage and the possible problems, at the same time, summarizing the basictheory of patent strategy and the patent information in the advanced energy storagematerials industry. Then comprehensive statistic data of advanced energy storagematerials industry’s patents and patent related literatures, and analyzing theexisting patent information such as: the patent filing, the types of patent, theapplicant and the applicant’s main IPC filings, the regional distribution of patent andIPC, and the technological development trend of advanced energy storage materialsare obtained. Then, based on the advanced energy storage materials industry inChina’s patent information analysis, this paper builds the industry’s patent strategy,and introduces the concrete implementation method and content, makes up the blankof domestic research on energy storage industry. Finally, generalizing the researchcontent of the full text, and the patent strategy study of advanced energy storagematerials industry was prospected.
