A Research On The Development Strategy For Building Economy Of Tianjin Hexi District

Within China’s urban economic development, building economy mainly refers to theeconomic activities which are based on developing new or unused business and commercialbuildings. Through forms like rent, sale and cooperation, modern service enterprises andmetropolitan industries are introduced so as to increase tax revenue and promote urban economy.Building economy is of an advanced economy form which combines modern service industryand its carrier, the commercial buildings. With the development of modern service industry,building economy which is significant to the sustained and healthy development of urbaneconomy, has become an important method for a central city to change the pattern of economicdevelopment, optimize industrial structure, increase employment and tax revenue and break thebottleneck of development space. At the very heart of Tianjin, Hexi District has limitedadministrative area and development space, which result in the decrease of available land. Basedon the present development of building economy, how to break the bottleneck in order to expandthe development of building economy, benefit from the space and find a new growth point forregional economic development, has become a research topic for Hexi District. This article aimsto play a certain function of reference for Hexi District in developing building economy.At first, the article reviews the existing researches related to building economy, defies theconcept and connotation of building economy at home and abroad, the development pattern, pathand strategy of building economy. This article also introduces the practical significance ofdeveloping building economy, its status and characteristics in China. What are especiallyintroduced are the status and characteristics of building economy development in Tianjin, a goodreference of developed city for Tianjin to develop building economy and the background ofdeveloping building economy in Hexi District. Applying SWOT analysis, economic and socialdevelopment, development of modern service industry and status of building economy arecompared and analyzed to conclude the pros and cons, opportunities and challenges ofdeveloping building economy in Hexi District. Based on this, strategic goals, thought ofdevelopment and significant point of developing building economy are promoted. Furthermore,practical and operational strategies are raised to improve building economy development in HexiDistrict. Looking forward to the ‘twelfth five-year’, building economy must be an effective wayfor Hexi District to improve the regional competitiveness of the city and achieve a leapdevelopment of urban economy.
